I don't know what he went over, but... There was a blinking light in some kind of code for help, and nail marks. They didn't find anyone, but it seems like even more proof that we aren't the first group.
He also found a message, um... [ She has to think to remember it. ] "Hard to look at him in the eyes knowing it might be in there. It's a reminder: don't trust anyone. Sorry my friend."
So we think that whatever it is we should be afraid of... Can probably steal our appearances, or possess people.
That was my first thought too, but... There's no way to know if they can see our memories. Or if they're watching us closely enough to see us decide on the code word.

That's creepy. Maybe we should come up with code words or something? You know, something to verify that's it's really us.
